Sports: Water Sports: Kayaking

[ history ]

Kayaking traces back its origin to thousand of years ago. Used primarily for hunting purposes before, kayaking is now preferred by individuals who want to conquer the rapids, surf the waves, race for speed, or cruise flat waters. Kayaking makes use of a small boat that has a covered deck and a cockpit. This is maneuvered manually, so kayakers should have the essential paddling skills.

Kayaks have double bladed paddles, which enable it to move forward or backward. One of the distinct advantages of kayaking is its facility to move across narrow places, where larger water crafts cannot usually go. Kayaking also makes possible an intimate outdoor trip as kayaks can blend in easily with the natural environment. Moreover, kayaks require no motor engine, just manual paddles.
