Sports: Water Sports: Discing

[ history ]

While other water sports make use of boards with rounded or square edges, there is a surface water sport that makes use of a wooden disc. This water sport is called discing, and the rider has to stand over the disc while it is being towed by a moving water craft. The rider, therefore, has to maintain balance. The disc evenly distributes the weight of the rider across the water.

Discing cannot be done at extremely high speeds, which makes some water sports enthusiasts dub this as a routine sport. Riding in circles at a fast speed is an example of a discing trick. In doing this, the rider has to hold on as long as he can; let go of the rope; gets thrown off; and finds out how far he has gone.
